As part of its commitment to the regeneration of territories and productive systems, the University for International Cooperation (UCI) promotes Living Soils, The extension program, recognized as a Hub in Costa Rica of the Savory Institute.
This initiative promotes the recovery of soil fertility, The company is committed to the health of ecosystems and the resilience of agri-food systems through agroecological practices, holistic management and regenerative livestock farming.
Living Soils connects technical knowledge, training and territorial action to promote more resilient and regenerative production models.
GANBOS: Livestock and Forestry
From Living Soils is driven GANBOS (Livestock and Forestry), an innovative initiative that connects climate finance with territorial transformation, using carbon market mechanisms to promote:
- Ecosystem restoration.
- Sustainable productivity.
- Biodiversity conservation.
- Well-being of rural communities.
A network to accelerate productive regeneration in the region
Living Soils is part of the LATAM Regenerative Alliance, a network of cooperation among Latin American Savory Hubs aimed at accelerating productive regeneration in the region.
The Alliance promotes the exchange of methodologies, specialized training, joint projects and solutions adapted to Latin American challenges.
Objectives of the Alliance:
- Regenerate soils, ecosystems and rural communities.
- Strengthen technical capabilities and productive leadership.
- Develop regional academic and technical programs.
- Articulate projects, contents and opportunities among allies.
Member hubs:
- Regeneratio - Ecuador.
- Las Carolinas - Colombia.
- Suelos Vivos - Costa Rica.
Regional Program in Regenerative Livestock and Holistic Management
Within the framework of this alliance, UCI is promoting the Regional Program in Regenerative Livestock and Holistic Management, based on the methodology of the Savory Institute and adapted to Andean and Mesoamerican contexts.
It is a training proposal aimed at producers, technicians and extensionists who are looking for concrete responses to climate change, The main challenges facing agricultural production are soil degradation and the new challenges of agricultural production.
