The UCI, through its Vice Rector's Office for Research and Extension, promotes the generation, integration and application of knowledge to foster innovative solutions to contemporary socio-environmental challenges, with special emphasis on the regenerative development

From this instance, the university's research, extension and project management initiatives are articulated, connecting the different faculties, academic programs, students and institutional partners around work agendas with the following objectives real impact on the territories

The research area coordinates and guides the development of research carried out both through institutional projects and the academic work of graduate students. These processes are aligned with the vision of the university and with the thematic priorities of each faculty.

One of the priority lines is the research applied to regeneration, particularly in the field of biodiversity. For more than three years, the university has been developing biodiversity monitoring programs associated with territories and farms where regenerative practices are implemented.

These programs include the monitoring of various functional groups of species, among them:

  • Birds
  • Mammals
  • Bats
  • Butterflies
  • Macroinvertebrates
  • Others ecosystem health indicators

These processes generate scientific information to understand the effects of regenerative practices on biodiversity and ecosystem services.

In addition, applied research is being developed in areas such as regenerative tourism, The company has produced methodological guides, publications and collaborative projects with international organizations, among them the Reimagine Foundation

The Vice Rector's Office also promotes the dissemination of scientific knowledge through the strengthening of the academic journal Regeneratio, The aim of this editorial space is to share research and experiences related to regeneration and other fields related to sustainable development.
