THE CHALLENGE

The challenges of the modern world demand a different approach.

Today we face complex challenges that require transforming the way we think, learn and act. The problem is not only environmental or economic: it is systemic. It is also educational.

Traditional models of education have been designed to simplify reality, when what the world needs are professionals capable of understanding its complexity and act from it.

OUR WAY

From sustainability to regeneration

In response to this challenge, the University for International Cooperation (UCI) was founded in Costa Rica in 1994, with the objective of training professionals capable of dealing with effectively meet the multifaceted challenges and dilemmas of the complexity of the modern world, under the concepts of sustainability and globalization. Since its inception, UCI has been a pioneer:

But the world changed and at the ICU we recognized an uncomfortable reality: sustainable development was no longer enough.

It was then that we decided to move towards a new paradigm and we introduced the concept of regenerative development, long before it became a global trend.  Since we cannot just hold, we must restore, revitalize and transform complete systems.
