Strengthen the management of the Al-Ula Protected Areas Network (APAN) by assessing and redesigning the Wildlife and Natural Heritage Department of the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU). The initiative identifies key competencies for the effective management of six protected areas, analyzes institutional gaps and develops training processes to strengthen them. As a result, an operational model was designed for Al-Ula's protected area network, aligned with international conservation standards, including the IUCN Green List, to promote representative, connected, equitable and climate change resilient protected area systems. In addition, a capacity building program was designed for the Network's rangers.
and workshops related to protected area management, control and protection, and biological monitoring were implemented.
Specialized training for rangers of the King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve (KARNR), aimed at strengthening their capacities in patrolling, field security and biodiversity monitoring. Through practical training modules, the rangers acquire tools to apply best patrolling practices, safety protocols for wildlife encounters, and data collection and management methods that contribute to the protected area's monitoring and management systems.
Capacity building for Amazonian park rangers in South America within the framework of the Amazon Sustainable Landscapes (ASL) program. Through virtual and face-to-face training processes, the program promotes the development of skills in protected area management, field safety, communication and operational coordination, as well as the exchange of experiences among park rangers from different countries. The initiative contributes to improving regional collaboration and the
effective management of Amazonian ecosystems in the face of challenges such as deforestation and climate change
