The Master's Degree in Project Management (MAP) of the University for International Cooperation (UCI) is a international and multidisciplinary program dedicated to the training of professionals in good project management practices to support the construction of an intelligent society with universal ethics.


With more than 20 years of trajectory, the MAP program has graduated more than 3,500 professionals from more than 45 countries.

 

UCI's MAP program offers an official UCI-approved qualification. National Council of Private University Higher Education of Costa Rica which allows its homologation in many countries. It was also the first (2009), in Latin America and the Caribbean, to obtain international accreditation of academic quality in Project Management Programs of the Global Accreditation Center -GAC®- of the Project Management Institute -PMI®-., This accreditation was reaffirmed in 2017, remaining at the forefront of higher education in leadership and project management in the region.

 

General Objective of the Program

 

To provide advanced training of professionals in project management, capable of performing successfully in projects in private and public organizations, taking into account the main critical success factors such as: time, budget, product and strategic objectives.

 

The specific objectives of the program

 

  • Analyze the general framework and typical phases of a project.
  • Analyze methodologies, procedures and updated tools for planning, estimation and control of available resources in project management to obtain the best possible performance.
  • Analyze the necessary areas that project managers must have in order to achieve success in their management.
  • To prepare professionals capable of providing timely and informed recommendations to organizations and other stakeholders in the project management process.
  • To prepare human resources to improve the project management process in public and private organizations.
  • To promote the training of specialized professionals who can take on teaching tasks in the area of project management, and thus consolidate the multiplying process of their own learning.
  • To prepare conscientious and well-trained human beings to interpret reality and recommend improvement options in project management.
  • Understand agile frameworks and gain knowledge on how to manage a project using agile methodologies, as well as obtain the necessary training to obtain international certifications: Scrum Master Qualified (SMQ®), Design Thinking Qualified (DTQ®), Agile Change Management Qualified (ACMQ)® .
  • Integrate and apply the concepts of Regenerative Development and Sustainable Development through the implementation of Green Project Management sustainability methodologies and approaches.

Degree requirements and profile

Entry requirements

  • Minimum university bachelor's degree in related fields such as business, administrative, economic, technological, engineering, social, agricultural, environmental, medical, livestock and forestry sciences, or others.
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding technical documents in English (Level B1)*.
  • At least one year of work experience in project teams is desirable.
  • Handling of basic software tools, electronic communication and affinity with virtual work.
  • Self-discipline, willingness to work collaboratively, responsibility and order.
