The Master in Project Management (MPM) at the Global School of Project Management (GSPM) is a graduate program with international accreditation, designed to develop and strengthen your project management skills, supported by an online learning-teaching environment.

The MPM Program was the first, in Latin America and the Caribbean to obtain, in 2009, the international academic quality accreditation for project management programs from the Global Accreditation Center (GAC) of the Project Management Institute (PMI). It is, at the present time, the only program that has been accredited in the region in both online and blended learning modalities, and in both English and Spanish.

GSPMĀ“s programs in project management have more than 2,600 graduates in over 40 countries, indicating their wide acceptance and recognition. They are offered in Spanish, in modalities with and without classroom attendance (b-learning, e-learning), and in English through e-learning.

Knowledge:

  • Distinguish different types of projects and their life cycles: predictives, adaptatives and hybrids.
  • Acquire and show understanding regarding the managing of the project management knowledge areas: scope, time, cost, procurement, resources, communication, quality, risks and integration.
  • Understand the agile principles and the framework of Scrum.
  • Elaborate different kind of plans that are required throughout the project.
  • Manage each member of the project team.
  • Analyze the quality of the intermediate and final products of the project, in such a way that the established standards are met and the customerĀ“s requirements are achieved.
  • Validate criteria and information in order to develop strategies for the project administration and its relation with the company.
  • Analyze the circumstances of the project and define work lines for a successful project administration.
  • Understand the need for proper project formulation for approval prior to project start-up.

General Objective of the Program

Perform the higher education for professionals in project management, capable of performing achieving the success of their projects in private and public organizations, taking into account the main critical factors of success like: time, budget, product and strategic objectives.

Specific Objective of the Program

  • Analyze the general framework of work and the typical phases of a project.
  • Analyze the updated methodologies, procedures and tools for planning, estimation and control of the resources available in the project management to get the most output possible.
  • Analyze the necessary knowledge areas that the project managers must have to achieve success in their management.
  • Prepare capable professionals of giving timely and informed recommendations to the organizations and other stakeholders in the project management process.
  • Prepare the human resources to improve the project management process in public and private organizations.
  • Encourage the formation of specialized professionals who can assume teaching tasks in the project management area, and in this way, consolidate the multiplier process of their own learning.
  • Prepare conscious and well-educated human resources to interpret the reality and recommend improvement options in terms of project management.
  • Understand agile frameworks and obtain knowledge regarding how to manage a project using agile methodologies, as well as to get the training needed to earn Professional Scrum Master I certification.
  • Integrate and apply the concepts of Regenerative Development and Sustainable Development through the implementation of methodologies and sustainability approaches of Green Project Management.

Vision

To be recognized as a center that researches, innovates, teaches and practices the professional management of projects tu support the regenerative and evolutionary development of an inclusive, complex, diverse and changing society.

Professionals from all sectors, including business, technology, engineering, architecture, agriculture, forestry, environment and social disciplines., among others, who hold a bachelorā€™s degree or higher and who wish to improve their skills in project management. It is also intended for professionals from other disciplines who are involved in supporting project management activities, projectized offices, and consulting firms.

Specific requirements:

  • Bachelor or Licenciate academic degree, as a minimum.
  • Sufficient command of the English language (must be able to study and understand learning or reference documents in this language)
  • Fluid communication skills through virtual means and email, as well as familiarity with the dynamics of social networks.
  • Previous professional experience in projects is desirable, but not required (at least one year of professional involvement in a project management environment), as well as basic knowledge of finance and accounting.
  • Management of software tools and affinity with virtual work and communication.
  • Positive predisposition to collaborative work, continuous improvement, applied research and self-discipline.

The students are responsible for registering and remaining as active members of PMI (for more information, visitĀ http://www.pmi.org/Membership.aspx) throughout the duration of their studies in MPM, which will provide access to A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOKĀ® Guide) ā€“ Seventh Edition, Project Management Institute Inc., 2017, and to an important quantity of standards, documents and communities of practice. Some of these resources will be required as study materials for program courses. Also, in some courses it might be necessary for the students to acquire textbooks and other learning resources for which they will be timely informed.

The full program has a duration of 4 cycles. A cycle contains three consecutive 5 week courses, and are studied one by one, in the order indicated in the table shown below. The teaching-learning process allows our professionals to develop the skills and capabilities needed to conduct large-scale projects.

Addional benefits of the Program

  • The students receive a Microsoft ProjectĀ® software license, for personal use.
  • Throughout the master’s program, students are prepared to take the certification exams required to obtain the PMPĀ® and CAPMĀ® credentials.Ā  Also, in the Special Topics in Project Management II course, they are prepared for taking the certification exam as Green Project Manager level b.
  • For students who are already have the PMPĀ® credential, courses may grant them up to 40 PDUs. These PDUs can be used as part of the requirements to renew their certification. The process for the accreditation of PDUs must be done by the students directly with PMI.

Please notice that students or graduates who wish to opt for a certification from PMI must complete their own procedures for certification directly with PMI.

Notes

  1. Fees valid through April 2022.
  2. At UCI:
    • The Registration fee is paid only once if the student does not interrupt his/her studies. It is not reimbursable.
    • The tuition fees will remain without change for the whole duration of the studentā€™s program of studies, as long as the student does not suspend his/her studies.
    • Tuition fees include courses and a personal license for MS ProjectĀ® software.
  3. The student must acquire a membership of the PMI (approximately USD$ 32) and reserve an estimated amount of USD$ 400 for textbooks and other expenses during the program.
